What we do

Variety. Quality.

Our private office offers the flexibility to choose from a wide range of leading investment solutions from both Rathbones and our external partners. Our service has been designed especially for clients like you, giving you access to the most relevant support, all in one place.

Advisory services

Expertise. Control.

If you prefer to manage your own investments, you have access to investment experts who can help you make the right choices through our partnerships with Credit Suisse, Stenham Asset Management and Partners Group.

Your client adviser is your first point of contact when you want investment advice. We combine the best of Rathbones and Credit Suisse for global investment expertise and research in equities, bonds, foreign exchange, commodities and alternative investments. Stenham Asset Management is a discretionary hedge fund specialist. Partners Group provides rare private equity investment opportunities.

In addition to these options, we can advise you on the use of structured products for very specific investment goals and hedging techniques to manage investment risk.

Selection. Precision.

Our discretionary investment management service gives you access to the best investment managers globally.

We search extensively to identify the right managers for your individual needs. All recommendations are based on independent due diligence and performance data.

Rathbones may be recommended as one of the UK’s leading providers of discretionary investment management. The award-winning Rathbones model targets consistent returns through active, disciplined investment management with an individual focus.

We do more than help with selection. We can also oversee manager performance for you, to confirm your providers are meeting expectations.

Financial planning and tax

Foresight. Security.

By connecting you to our colleagues at Rathbones, we can provide you with independent advice on the best ways to improve the after tax performance of your investments and protect and pass on wealth. Our financial planning experts will make sure you have taken the right steps to avoid surprises in the future.

We can support you with estate and tax planning. Our team has vast experience in using trusts and settlements to create a long-lasting legacy, as well as the set up and running of charitable foundations. To navigate this complex area for you we can work with your existing tax advisers and other specialists.

Tax affairs can be complicated and time consuming, especially if you are from outside the UK. We can deal with the UK tax authorities for you. Our team will complete returns, agree liabilities and alert you when payments are due.

Flexibility. Liquidity.

We can provide short and long-term financing for general liquidity purposes, residential and commercial property and other assets.

By borrowing against your investment holdings, you can access capital without disrupting your investment strategies or triggering potential tax liabilities. As well as mortgages for property in the UK and overseas, we can source specialist financing for assets such as yachts and private jets.

The cost of financing for large assets can vary significantly. Our team knows the market and will work with lenders to find suitable and competitive options for your needs.

Ethical investment and philanthropy

Integrity. Impact.

If you want to make ethical investments, we can help select suitable investment managers for you.

Rathbones has an in-house team, Rathbone Greenbank Investments, that operates at the forefront of ethical investment. In addition to managing entirely ethical and socially responsible investment portfolios, Rathbone Greenbank is a prominent activist on issues, engaging directly with companies and government to achieve change.

We can support your philanthropic activities through advice on strategy and structuring. Rathbones is also a leading investment manager for charities and not-for-profit organisations. As a top 5 charity investment manager, we have £4.1 billion* in funds under management for more than 1,000 charities, from those with modest investments to those with portfolios of over £100 million.
